  • Abstract
Rural drinking water security relates to people´s life quality and health, this has caused Chinese government to pay attention to. Through field investigation and sampling, this paper basically make clear the water source quality for central water supply project of Jingzhou city, the results show that the eligible rate of water source for central water supply in the villages and towns is only 42%, there into as a drinking water sources groundwater largely is substandard. The investigation also indicates that incompetent water over the district leads to scarcity of potable water, especially in the rural area more than 60% of the total population has a low reliability in drinking water security. The reason of austere situation in drinking water security is that water resource protection has been ignored in process of the economic development, water pollution has not been effectively impeded, so that water environment has been deteriorating, and therefore severe water shortage formed due to bad water quality.
