Abstract
We consider the diffraction of a plane wave on dielectric groove. We divide the whole domain into two sub-domains: a uniform medium; and a dielectric layer with periodically varying dielectric constant. For the perpendicular (transverse magnetic, TM-mode) polarization assumed here, the tangential components of the electric and magnetic fields below the groove are given
