Abstract :
In industrial process monitoring, it is very important to distinguish between a sensor failure and a system failure. This paper presents a sensor validation co-processing element embedded in a processing node, which provides proactive condition monitoring of a wind farm. The sensor validation framework is designed for monitoring complex equipment systems; this is achieved by validating the sensor data, associating a degree of validity with each measurement, identifying faulty sensors and detecting incipient sensor failures. The methodology uses information from a sensor individually, information from the sensor as part of a group of sensors, sensor properties and attributes and the immediate history of the process that is being monitored.
