Abstract :
We have developed an optical path cross-connect demonstrator designed to achieve a 320-Gbit/s throughput. Measured performance confirms the viability of 320-Gbit/s throughput from a full scale implementation. Planar lightwave circuit technologies were exploited to yield compact size AWG-demultiplexers. Performance tests confirmed the design validity of the system, and thus the feasibility of the 320 Gbit/s OPXC. This achievement is a significant step toward the realization of optical path networks.
