Abstract :
We study the effect of impulse ultra wide bandwidth (UWB) signals on the Galileo receivers of Global Navigation Satellite Services (GNSS). We derive approximations for the interference level after despreading and determine the maximum interference causing 1 dB increase of the noise floor. We consider the CW-like case and the noise-like case. We estimate, by simulation, the minimum distance between an UWB transmitter and a Galileo receiver, for which the maximum admissible interference level is achieved using the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) limits. The computation is done for communication applications as well as for the midfrequency imaging application, which corresponds to the highest EIRP limit.
