Abstract
Optics provides new device technology as well as architectures and algorithms in the real world computing (RWC) program which aims at flexible information processing using massively parallel and massively distributed processing. Optical technology to be developed in the RWC program is classified into three categories: optical interconnection, optical neural systems, and optical digital systems.
