  • Abstract
    A tracking controller for SISO systems is proposed by integrating fuzzy logic and artificial neural networks. The fuzzy logic controller (FLC) can be replaced by a single neuron to control a large class of SISO systems. The change in linguistic terms of FLC is simply done by changing some gain parameters. A new form of nonlinearity is proposed for the neuron, which may be used to implicitly change the rules of FLC, and hence tune the controller. The neuron is also shown to have an explanation capability which is useful for tuning. Simulations were done to test the single neuron controller on different classes of SISO systems. The single neuron controller was also tested for real time temperature control of a furnace.
