Abstract :
In this paper we present the actual development status of amplifiers pumped at 980 nm compared with 1480 nm pumped amplifiers. We discourse the system impacts of this kind of amplifier and the status of development in 980 nm diode laser with particular emphasis on reliability aspects and possibility for submarine qualification.
