Abstract
Temperature independent narrow-band filter was realized for the first time. A ring resonator was fabricated at 1.3 /spl mu/m wavelength by using an athermal waveguide in which optical path length is independent of temperature, and the temperature coefficient of central wavelength was successfully decreased to 7/spl times/10/sup -4/ nm/K (7% of conventional filter).
