Abstract :
In this paper, aiming at improving the utilization of network resources and providing the network with better QoS guarantees such as new call blocking probability (CBP) and handoff call blocking probability (HBP), we present an adaptive channel management scheme (ACMS) for routing and handoff in WATM mobile satellite networks. In this scheme, according to both the system mobility feature and the traffic situation in the inter/intra satellite links (ISLs), part of the channels will be dynamically reserved particularly for the handoff calls in order to reduce the HBP while guaranteeing a certain CBP requirements. Besides this, the channel traffic will be real-time and fully investigated during the path selecting so as to make more effective utilization of the network resources and thus improve the network performance from QoS HBP and CBP points of view
