Abstract
In this paper, the performance of a multi rate CDMA cellular network will be evaluated. User mobility model, cell size, and handoff strategies effects will be investigated. A queuing birth-death model is presented. Differently from the previous work, the effect of varying the handoff guard channels on the performance will be discussed as well as the other system parameters such as: cell channel capacity, cell radius and user velocity for different traffic densities. In addition, an iterative algorithm will be introduced in order to evaluate the system performance parameters. Performance parameters such as blocking probability, and forced termination probability will be evaluated for different system parameters.
