Abstract :
The results of a development effort to design high-frequency, low-loss, fundamental-mode surface transverse wave (STW) resonators for use in stable oscillator applications are presented. Several devices have been fabricated with a resonant frequency below the grating stopband center in order to investigate the effects of this resonant frequency shift on the insertion loss of a two-port STW device. Both theoretical and experimental results are presented along with a discussion of STW design considerations for stable oscillator applications above 2 GHz
