Abstract
In recent years, there are some location-based routing protocols were proposed. However, most of these protocols resort to flooding when "void" area appears in networks. Obviously, this will results in the increase of routing overhead. In this paper, a new location-based routing protocol (TLRP) is proposed. TLRP uses a tree-shape approach to make the decision of route request packet forwarding. It can make the route request packets bypass the "void" area subtly and can also reduce the request packets in common scenarios. A link forecasting approach based on more detailed location information is also implemented in the route maintenance phase. Simulation results show that, compared with some other classic location-based protocols, TLRP can improve packet delivery ratio and decrease delay with less routing overhead
