Abstract
This paper presents a novel predictive approach to call admission control for wireless/mobile networks. The scheme forecasts the next possible number of handoff dropping calls, using auto regressive moving average (ARMA) model, to update reservation threshold through a closed-loop control. Our simulation results suggest that the approach enables us to achieve a higher level of statistical multiplexing gain while still reliably meeting the target handoff-dropping probability
