Abstract :
In power conversion equipment, size reduction is mainly achieved with higher frequencies, thermal management and good packaging. It is desirable to raise the switching frequency to reduce the physical size and weight of magnetics and capacitors involved with the topology. But it is also a design challenge to operate at a high switching frequency without performance degradation especially without efficiency degradation which would increase the thermal management complexity and would increase the operating cost for the end customer. This paper presents a new boost converter that can operate at very high frequency. This topology provides true zero-voltage switching on the semiconductors and limits the reverse recovery current of the boost diode to limit EMI emissions
