  • Abstract
In this paper, a summary of the methods for the prediction of interruption cost in power systems is presented. A new approach based on household income, gross domestic products (GDP) of commercial and industrial sectors is used to estimate the respective interruption costs of the utility customers in a region during the year from 1987 to 1996. The annual rates of increase of the interruption costs of various electric customers are given. The relationship of these values and the annual rates of increase of different electricity prices and consumer price indices in Hong Kong are analyzed. Based on the result of the above relationship, the future interruption costs of the utility customers can be predicted
