Abstract
In Lake Champlain a search through the ice was performed using sector-scan sonar to look for one of the ships of Benedict Arnold´s 1776 flotilla. Two sector-scan sonars were used, a Mesotech 671 and a UDI 500 kHz. The search was conducted in water up to 300 fathoms deep. Both sonars performed well in the February cold. The topside electronics were kept out of the weather and provided some heat
