Abstract
Though many motion interfaces have been proposed, most of them are based on the handle manipulation such as a mouse and a joystick. With these interfaces, users must concentrate on handling. We propose a new interface “plate” where a user can show any direction simply by shifting his/her body. The center of gravity is measured by four strain-gage elements bonded under the plate. As a primary evaluation of this interface, we constructed an experimental system to connect the plate to a mouse interface and examined the behaviors of novice users. As the second step of the development we implemented the plate on an omnidirectional vehicle as an active motion system
