Abstract :
The Hartmann Group is a Danish-owned international Group of packaging companies with affiliates and licensees the world over. Hartmann specialises in moulded fibre packaging made of recycled paper and the Group has an annual turnover of around DKK 1,5 billion and approximately 2200 employees. Reference customers are: Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, Canon, NEC, Philips, Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, etc. Life Cycle Management, LCM has been on the Hartmann agenda for more than 8 years. The strategy for sustainable development of the Hartmann Group as well as the management model called: Sustainability Tool for the Entire Product chain, STEP are highly focused on improving the environment-, health-, safety- and social-performance of the packaging products and they build upon the LCM concept. The Hartmann Group has received the "European Management Award for Sustainable Development" for its strategy for sustainable development. This paper presents the product oriented strategy and management models of the Hartmann Group and how their practical implementation is organised and carried out. The major results of this effort are efficient moulded fibre packaging for consumer electronics with high environment-, health-, safety-, social- and quality standards.
