Abstract
Control applications using ad-hoc discretization of their continuous inputs may function under sub-optimal conditions due to a mismatch between the discretization interval and the control strategy being used. The paper presents a method to evaluate that condition. This research is an offspring of the authors´ current research on using fuzzy set theory methods to quantify the recovery capability of reactive real-time systems from violations of ontological assumptions. The proposed method can bring significant benefits for industrial control applications in terms of early fault detection, fault supervision and diagnostics
