Abstract
Some ideas about using power electronics technology in North-West Power System (NWPS) are presented in this paper. A model of a kind of phase-shifter is proposed. The feasibility study based on the model is carried on. The advantage of phase-shifter such as in improving power flow among some parallel transmission lines, enhancing transmission ability and system stability, reducing energy losses and so on, have been adequately proved. Finally the scheme of equipping a phase-shifter in NWPS is also discussed
