Abstract
Ray casting is one of the best volume rendering algorithms for 3D reconstruction of medical image, with the main problem of the slower drawing. According to the idea of space-leaping technology, this paper presents an accelerative method based on the crossing-area technique. The volume data is cut with the bounding box techniques, the linear octree constructed with the value of the color gradient and the octree nodes of neighborhood instead of equidistant sampling points with the volume data subdivision to avoid the linear interpolation calculations for three times. The results show that the algorithm can improve the rendering speed effectively.
