Abstract :
The paper analyzes the Heart Rate Variability (HRV) signal by measuring long period correlation and self-similarity properties. The analysis performs the computation of the Hurst (H) self-similarity exponent. We study the HRV signals of normal and heart failure patients for 24 h. Results confirm the presence of fractal and self-similar characteristics in the HRV signal and show that the H parameter can significantly differentiate between healthy vs. pathological subjects
