Abstract
A “hybrid” or “multimode” system is one that can switch between various modes of operation. When a switch occurs from one mode to another, an impulse may result followed by a smooth evolution under the new regime. The vestibule-ocular reflex (VOR) is well known to exhibit such behavior and, its modes of operation are characterized as a finite-dimensional nonlinear time-invariant polynomial. In this paper, we propose an identification method for such impulsive-smooth systems
