Abstract :
The transmission impairment due to the transient chirp of directly modulated lasers can be reduced by using a narrow-band amplitude modulator shared among many lasers in wavelength-division-multiplexed systems. Using this technique, we demonstrate doubling of the transmission distance through conventional fiber of a 2.5 Gb/s directly modulated distributed feedback laser
