Abstract :
With the deregulation of the Salvadorian electricity system in 1998, some important changes have happened in its transmission grid. In 2003, a new interconnection with Honduras has created a regional electricity market in the Central America. In addition, there has been a significant growth in the Salvadorian load that increases the loading in the transmission system. This new environment creates new control and operation conditions, where the system and market operator must guarantee the security and reliability of the Salvadorian transmission network. One of the new challenges of the system operator is to maintain the voltage stability of the power system. This paper presents the results of the voltage stability assessment of the Salvadorian power system using AC contingency analysis, Q-V and P-V techniques and long term dynamic simulation
