  • Abstract
    A formal model of a user knowledge base system in intelligent tutoring systems is presented in this paper. It consists of a basic knowledge base, a coginitive knowledge base, and an interaction knowledge base. The basic knowledge base is used to record personal data of a user for the identification of the user. The cognitive knowledge base is used to record cognitive information concerning the user which is vital for the system´s user-adapted operation. The interaction knowledge base is used to record interaction information of a user with the system. After given the formalisms of the above three kinds of knowledge bases, the formal model of our user knowledge base system is presented, and the building and updating process of the system is discussed in detail to show that the model is practicable.
