Abstract :
This paper provides a solution to analyze semantic relations of Chinese nominal phrases. Firstly, it gives an introduction about the basic contents of the Connet (Conceptual Network) that is a kind of knowledge representation architecture. Then, this paper proposes a semantic compounding model that is being used for semantic representation and semantic analysis in our research. Particularly, the Meaning-Binding (semantic constraint) mode is being selected to illustrate the semantic compounding of a Chinese nominal phrase in this paper. Furthermore, this paper discusses in detail about the relations of compounding between the modifier component and the core component in Chinese nominal phrase based on the semantic compounding model. Finally, the author attempts to design a system to classify automatically the semantic relations in Chinese nominal phrases with the compounding model and knowledge supplied by Connet.
