Abstract
Driven by a target competency profile for graduates of the Colorado School of Mines (USA) which was developed in the early 1990s; the core curriculum for CSMs programs in engineering and the sciences has been revised over a period of four years and is now entering full implementation. This paper focuses the framework of the CSM core curriculum, describing the organization and content of different segments, their interconnectivity and their rationale in the light of the graduate profile. The paper concludes with short descriptions of courses in the freshman year, previews the sophomore year and comments on the consequent developments in the upper division.
