Abstract
With a network structure of point to multi-point, Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) combines the technologies of integrated Ethernet and passive optical networking. Therefore, it has become the best choice for the next generation broadband access network due to characteristics of low cost, easy maintenance and high-bandwidth. This paper analyzes the existing problems of Ethernet passive optical network bandwidth allocation algorithm. Two development direction of DBA have been proposed: adaptive upstream bandwidths, and network traffic prediction.
