Abstract
A novel grouped hybrid channel assignment (GHCA) is presented in the paper. It combines the FCA and DCA more delicately than the conventional HCA by partitioning the dynamic channels into groups of different priorities, and maintains the compact of channel deployment in the meanwhile. The simulation results showed that GHCA is superior to the PCA and DCA for both uniform and non-uniform traffic, and to HCA when the traffic exceeds 70% of the saturating load. It is also observed that the best performance of GHCA is obtained when the ratio of the number of dynamic channels to the number of fixed channels equals 2
