Abstract
The paper traces the progression of cultural changes experienced by Saudi society over the past few decades of the oil boom. The dynamic impact of cultural changes on building design features, construction and operational use are identified. The resultant impacts on building electrical energy demand are analyzed using available energy consumption records and simple performance indices. The patterns of energy performance variations are explained and expected future tendencies are outlined
