Abstract
In this paper, a new chaotic simulated annealing algorithm called (CGCSA) is proposed that has reserved the simplicity of the standard algorithm, but has greatly enhanced the performance. The proposed algorithm introduces a new acceptance criterion and two different neighbor generation mechanisms. Chaotic maps form the key idea of the CGCSA algorithm. It is applied to solve some continuous optimization problems. The paper also proposes a method to control the total harmonic distortion of voltage (THDV) with the new algorithm. The non-linear relationship between voltage harmonics and the THDV is identified using the revised group method of data handling (RGMDH) based on the self-organization technique.
