Abstract :
An improved transmission-line model to characterize a microstripslot radiator for biomedical application is discussed. The applicator is a microstrip-microslot antenna which consists of a gradual transition from a classical microstrip line to a microstrip line with tuning septa; the applicator is formed by the ground plane aperture in contact with the tissue or other lossy medium. The transmission-line model of the radiating antenna is improved by using the spectral-domain approach to characterize the applicator. Numerical analysis of the propagation of the conditions is used to determine the other parameters needed for the model experimental results verifying the model are noted. The resulting transmission-line model is capable of describing the frequency behavior of the microstrip slot radiator laid on muscle.<>
