Abstract
An iterative method is presented for synthesizing a single shaped reflector when the feed pattern and beam shape is specified. The method is based on aperture phase synthesis. A continental US (CONUS) beam with directivity greater than 28.0 dBi over the coverage area was achieved with a 24-wavelength shaped-reflector. This performance is comparable to that of equal aperture size, except that losses for the shaped reflector are much lower.<>
