Abstract :
The authors consider a resonant capacitor voltage-clamped-type half-bridge topology of a novel instantaneous resonant current vector-regulated high-frequency inverter with VVVF control functions, which efficiently operates at zero-current soft-switched quasiresonant and load resonant tank circuit subresonant hybrid softswitching schemes. This proposed multiresonant topology inverter version using newly developed high-frequency high-power static induction transistors is more suitable for modern induction-heating and -melting power supply in industrial production plants. Its operating principle is presented, including control strategy, and its features are discussed as compared with other resonant inverter topologies. Its analytical results and performance evaluations are described through computer-aided simulation methods. A feasible breadboard of the trial inverter is demonstrated for the state-of-the-art induction heating power supply and is examined from a practical point of view
