Abstract :
A representation of magnetic circuits with a topological dual equivalent circuits is presented. The dual equivalent circuit consists of permeance elements instead of reluctances and includes the modelling of hysteresis nonlinearity and iron losses. The hysteretic permeances in the dual magnetic circuit are modelled with the Jiles-Atherton (JA) approach to take the hysteresis effect into account. The dynamic iron losses are modelled with voltage dependent current sources connected parallel to the hysteretic permeances. Comparison of simulated results with measured results from a core type transformer shows that an inaccuracy of the JA model which occurs at low flux densities can be reduce by using a modified JA model.
