Abstract
In this paper an analytical solution is presented to determine the average convection heat-transfer coefficient for a partially heated flat plate. The average coefficient is determined when the flow is either completely laminar or completely turbulent. With this analytical approach a particular expression is used for each case of laminar or turbulent flow which uniquely simplifies the appropriate expression for the local heat-transfer coefficient for that case. This work results in obtaining a general equation (different for laminar and turbulent flow) for the average heat-transfer coefficient for the heated plate length, in terms of the total length of the plate
