Abstract
The cyclic variation of ultrasonic integrated backscatter (IB) of myocardium is expect to discriminate normal from ischemic myocardium. It has the potential to became a noninvasive method of the clinical diagnosis of myocardial ischemia. To investigate the feasibility of such a technique, and to make better use of the technique by investigating some system parameter on the IB measurement, a clinical IB detection and estimation system is established in the authors´ laboratory. Using this system, the IB data were collected from six male volunteers. Based on the clinical data obtained, the effects of sampling window position, signal sampling-rate and algorithm parameter setting on IB value are studied. These results provide a guide line for the design of the instrumentation for IB detection
