Abstract
A tracing technique is applied to a spherical symmetric refractive profile to simulate the Doppler shift. The bending angle and impact parameter can be solved from the Doppler shift based on the Bouguer´s law. An algorithm is developed to derive the refractive index below the height of the low-earth-orbit satellite involved in a radio occultation scheme. The error of restored refractivity profile is below 2.5%.
