Abstract
Workflow management becomes more and more important along with the development of medical technique. Traditional medical information system cannot keep up with the ever-changing demands. The existing widely used workflow management system can not be applied to medical environment because of the complex features of medical information system. In this paper, a workflow-based medical information system architecture is proposed to resolve those problems. The architecture takes open source workflow management system- YAWL as the start point. In the architecture, the medical workflow is defined, implemented, executed and optimized in the medical workflow bus. The applications and heterogeneous legacy information systems are hanged on, as well as activated and managed by the bus. Through this way, the medical workflow problem is resolved and the process-driven data communication, heterogeneous legacy systems integration are realized.
