Abstract
In recent years the possibility of incorporating type II high temperature superconductors (HTS) into power applications such as electrical motors, generators, bearings and fault current limiters has attracted much attention. Hysteresis superconducting motors offer the simplest construction and in this paper a drum and disc type configuration are considered. Comparison in terms of specific torque produced by both type of machines is presented.
