Abstract :
Recent developments in combining symbolic, numeric, and graphics computing techniques in an integrated environment are described. These are: (1) symbolic derivation of numerical code for finite-element analysis; (2) automatic numeric code generation based on derived formulas; (3) generation of parallel code; and (4) graphical user interfaces for mathematical systems. Several software packages are also described.<>
