  • Abstract
A discussion is given on maritime crime in the small boat environment and ways to combat it. A new strategy is presented which needs to make use of a number of key ideas and resources. Much can be learnt form other areas such as car theft and car park security. Cars in the mass market are now promoted for their security and safety along with how sleek they look. In general in terms of boat advertising it seems that the boat industry is some ten to fifteen years behind the car. The following areas are discussed: use of coastguard; expert opinions; boat registration; cost effective policing; environment capable technology
