Abstract

This paper discusses the issues that the working group to revise ANSI C50.41, “American National Standard for Polyphase Induction Motors for Power Generating Stations”, is addressing. The last issuance of this standard occurred in 1982. Although it is not presently in print this document continues to be referenced in motor specifications prepared by engineers in the utility industry. This document has also received notice by the IEEE Electric Machinery Committee Task Force on Standards Harmonization. This document addresses issues that appear to be specific to the utility industry and its continued revision and availability to the industry is very important as the technology that it addresses is not addressed in other forums
