A study was carried out for determination of arsenic in surface water, ground water, sediment and farm-soil using hydride generator atomic absorption spectrometry to evaluate the concentration of arsenic in environment of Pizhou, China, after about half year of major accident of arsenic. In surface water and ground water, the level of arsenic was found in the range of 6.04-50.67 μg/1 and 4.18-8.85 μg/1, respectively. It was observed that the level of arsenic was high in SW1 and SW5 as recommended by the national standard for drinking water. While the level of As in sediment and farm-soil was 5.13-16.67 mg/kg and 4.65-7.45 mg/kg, respectively. The results indicated that SI was a middle contamination level, other sediment samples were low-level contamination, and all farm-soil except F2 revealed low-level of contamination.
