Abstract
A μ+-μ- collider must compress the beam phase-space volume by a factor of ~106 to obtain high luminosity, and this beam cooling must occur before μ-decay. In this paper we present simulations of ionization cooling which explore the various conditions needed for cooling to collider conditions. Cooling by large factors is demonstrated and directions toward complete cooling scenarios are discussed
