Abstract
The fluorescent properties of Dansylhydrazine(5-dimethylaminonaphthalene-1-sulfohydrazide, DANSH) which is regarded as chemosensor in ion-containing solutions have been clarified using fluorescence spectra. The presence of Hg2+ ion in DANSH solution gives rise to the remarkable enhancement of fluorescence while other metal ions almost do not. This result suggests that the DANSH can be used as the chemosensor for the detection of Hg2+. By combination of adsorption spectra and mass spectra, we also elucidate the mechanism of fluorescence enhancement in Hg2+ solution.
