Abstract :
The Mexican government is expected to play an active role promoting the integration of rural areas by exploiting cheaper and more competitive technology using the L-band capacity to be installed in second generation Mexican satellites. This technology permits small antennas and compact terminal equipment, allowing a high degree of portability which is advantageous for rural application even in the case of difficult access conditions. The authors describe the Solidaridad satellite systems, emphasising rural area mobile telecommunication applications
