Abstract
Glucose kinetics in rat was investigated by analysing 14C-glucose concentration data through a two-compartment model. The two compartments represent the glucose pool and the glucose precursor pool. Since the system was not in the steady state due to adrenergic response, two alternative models were considered, in which either the rate coefficient of tissue uptake or the rate coefficient of recycling were assumed time-dependent. The model with variable recycling coefficient was more adequate, and dodecanedioic acid administration was found to reduce the flow of glucose carbon into the precursor pool
